What would roller shutters look like on your house?

If you are wondering what roller shutters would look like on your house, this free visualiser lets you find out using a photo of the actual property. Showroom samples and stock photos only show what a shutter looks like on somebody else's window.

This visualiser answers it directly. Upload a photo of your house from your phone or computer, click the four corners of a window, and a roller shutter is drawn over it following the angle of that window. Add as many windows as you like, drag the corners until each one lines up, and you have a picture of your own home with shutters on it.

Compare supported colours, then preview the shutters open, half closed or fully closed. Choose No shutters for a quick before-and-after comparison without deleting the window you marked.

Nothing is detected automatically and nothing is guessed. You place every window yourself, which is why it works on any photo: brick, render, weatherboard, single storey or double.

See outdoor blinds on your patio or alfresco area

The visualiser is not roller-shutter only. Switch to Outdoor Blinds and use the same photo and marked openings to preview track-guided blinds on a patio, pergola, verandah, alfresco or other outdoor entertaining area. It is a practical way to compare outdoor blind ideas for privacy, shade and blocking afternoon sun before you request a quote.

You can also switch to plantation shutters or indoor roller, venetian and vertical blinds. Each product is drawn as itself, while your marked openings and measurements stay put. See our outdoor blinds guide for the differences between fabrics, tracks and weather suitability.

Solar works differently and is treated differently. Panels go on the roof, not over a window, and they are quoted per kilowatt after an installer checks your roof, switchboard and shading. So solar gives you a panel layout and an approximate system size rather than a price we could not stand behind. Mark a roof plane, set how many panels fit across and down it, and send the layout through for real numbers.

Compare roller shutters before and after, then save your favourites

Choose No shutters for a before view without losing the windows you marked, then turn the shutters back on for the after view. When you find a look you like, download a copy of the house image with the design, window measurements and selected options attached. Change the colour or shutter position, download another copy, then compare the saved images side by side before you choose.

You can also save the full interactive design and copy its private link. The link reopens your house photo, marked windows, measurements, colours and options so you can come back later or share the exact version with someone else. No account is required.

Try roller shutter colours on your house

Colour is the change people most often regret. A shutter that looks smart against a dark render can wash out completely on a light brick facade, and the only reliable way to judge it is against your own walls.

Every colour offered in the visualiser is a colour the quote engine on this site can actually price, so the design you build is a design an installer can quote on. Switch between them and the shutters on your photo update immediately. You can set one colour across every window at once, or give different windows different colours.

If you are asking what colour roller shutters you should get, compare light and dark options against your brick, render, roof and trim rather than choosing from a tiny swatch. Saving two or three versions makes it easier to see which shutter colour works best with the whole house.

Final colour matching is still done off a physical sample from your installer. Screens and photos both shift colour, so treat the visualiser as a way to narrow the shortlist rather than confirm the exact shade.

Estimate roller shutter pricing

Enter the approximate width and height of each window in millimetres and the visualiser prices the job using the same pricing engine as our roller shutter price calculator. There is no separate visualiser formula and no second set of numbers.

Price responds to the things that genuinely move it: the area of each opening, whether the shutter is manual or motorised, whether you add remote control, how many windows you are doing, and whether you want supply only or supply and install. Add a fourth shutter and the bulk discount applies exactly as it would in the calculator.

Measurements are used for the estimate only. They do not have to match the scale of your photo, and the visualiser never tries to work out dimensions from the image. A tape measure across the outside of the window reveal is close enough at this stage. For how the underlying numbers are built, see our roller shutter cost guide.

No signup required

You get the full design and the full estimate without an account, an email address or a phone number. There is no gate part-way through and no "enter your details to see your price" step.

Your house photo is loaded and resized inside your own browser, and nothing is sent to us while you are designing. It is only stored if you choose to save your design or send it through for quotes, and then it is held privately so your saved link reopens the picture you built.

If you decide you want real numbers from real installers, the design carries across into our quote comparison request so you are not typing every window in a second time. If you don't, close the tab and nothing has been shared.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your house

Choose or drag in a photo of your house. JPG, PNG or WEBP. It is resized and displayed in your browser.

  2. 2

    Mark your windows

Click Add Window, then click the four corners of the window: top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left.

  3. 3

    Choose your shutters

Pick the colour, operation type and any extras, then set how far down each shutter sits.

  4. 4

    Enter measurements

Type the approximate width and height of each window in millimetres. These drive the estimate, not the picture.

  5. 5

    See your estimated price

The indicative range updates live as you change sizes, options and the number of windows.

  6. 6

    Save copies to compare

Download each design as an image, or save a private link that reopens the photo, windows, colours and options later.

  7. 7

    Compare installer quotes

Send the finished design through to our quote comparison so local installers quote the job you designed.

Roller shutter visualiser FAQs

Can I use the roller shutter visualizer with my own house photo?
Yes. Upload a photo of your own house, mark the four corners of each window, and the free tool draws the shutters over those openings. You can compare colours, see them open, half closed or fully closed, and switch to No shutters for a before-and-after view.
Is the roller shutter visualiser free?
Yes. It is free to use and there is no signup, login or email address required. You see the finished design and the price estimate before you are asked for any contact details.
Is this also a roller shutter simulator?
Yes. People use visualiser and simulator to mean the same kind of tool here: upload your house photo, mark the windows and simulate different roller shutter colours and open or closed positions. You control the placement yourself rather than relying on an automatic result that may miss the window edges.
Can I use this as an outdoor blinds visualiser for a patio or alfresco area?
Yes. Choose Outdoor Blinds, then mark the opening on a patio, pergola, verandah, alfresco or outdoor entertaining area. The tool previews how a track-guided blind could look and lets you compare colours and coverage. An installer still needs to confirm the structure, fabric, wind rating and weather suitability.
Can I save copies of different designs to compare?
Yes. Download a copy of one design, change the shutter colour or position, then download the next version and compare the images side by side. Each download includes your house preview, window measurements and selected options. You can also save a private link that reopens the interactive design later.
Does it detect my windows automatically?
No. You mark each window yourself by clicking its four corners, then drag the corner handles to fine-tune. There is no automatic detection, which means it works on any photo of any house rather than only on clear, straight-on shots.
Is my house photo uploaded or stored?
Not while you are using the visualiser. The photo is loaded and resized inside your own browser, and nothing is sent to us as you mark windows and try colours. It is only uploaded if you choose to save your design or send it through for quotes, so that your saved link reopens the picture you built and you can download a copy. Saved photos are held privately, are reachable only through your own link, and are removed automatically after 90 days unless the design has become a quote.
How accurate is the price estimate?
It is an indicative estimate, not a quote. It uses the same pricing engine as the roller shutter price calculator on this site, driven by the measurements and options you enter. Final pricing depends on site conditions, access, electrical work and the individual supplier, so only a written quote after a measure is an actual price.
Do my measurements need to match the photo?
No. The measurements are used only for the price estimate. The visualiser makes no attempt to work out real dimensions from the photograph, so a window drawn slightly large or small on the image does not change the estimate.
Which roller shutter colours can I try?
The visualiser offers the colours our quote engine can price for roller shutters. They are shown as swatches with their names beside them so you can select by name rather than by colour alone.
Can I visualise anything other than roller shutters?
Yes. Plantation shutters, outdoor blinds and indoor blinds all work the same way and are priced by the same engine, and each is drawn as itself rather than as a recoloured shutter — plantation blades tilt open and closed, outdoor blinds run in side tracks, and indoor blinds change shape between roller, venetian and vertical. Switching product keeps your marked windows and measurements.
Does the visualiser price solar panels?
No, and deliberately so. Solar is quoted per kilowatt after an installer assesses your roof, switchboard, shading and export limits, so a per-square-metre figure from a photo would be misleading. What the visualiser does give you is a layout: mark a roof plane, set how many panels fit across and down it, and see the panel count and approximate system size. Accredited installers price it from there.
Can I use the visualiser on my phone?
Yes. It works on phones and tablets as well as desktop, and you can mark and drag windows by touch. A larger screen makes fine adjustment easier, so if you want to be precise about corner placement, a laptop or tablet is more comfortable.
What happens after I finish my design?
Nothing, unless you choose to continue. If you want real quotes, one button carries the number of shutters, the measurements, the colours and the options through to our quote comparison request so you do not have to enter them again.
