Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Shut The Front Up collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information when customers, suppliers and visitors use our website and marketplace. We aim to handle personal information consistently with applicable Australian privacy law.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and preferred contact method;
- your suburb, postcode, address and project location;
- project descriptions, measurements, preferences, photographs and uploaded quotes;
- offers, messages, selections, reviews, complaints and support correspondence;
- supplier account, business, service-area, ABN and supporting-document information;
- account, transaction and credit-ledger records; and
- technical information such as IP address, device/browser data, timestamps, referring pages, cookies and security logs.
Uploaded quotes, energy bills and photographs may contain personal information about you or another person. Please remove information that is not needed and make sure you are authorised to provide the material.
How we collect and use information
We usually collect information directly from you through forms, uploads, account activity, email and support requests. We use it to operate and secure the marketplace, calculate indicative prices, match project briefs, administer bids and accounts, process supplier payments, provide notifications and support, handle complaints, prevent misuse, comply with legal obligations and improve the service.
We send marketing only where permitted and with the required consent. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages or withdraw permission for marketing calls at any time. Service messages about an active request, account, bid or transaction are not marketing messages.
What suppliers can see
We may show an eligible project brief to up to three approved suppliers so they can decide whether to bid. While bidding, suppliers can see job information reasonably needed to prepare an offer, such as product requirements and general location, but not your direct contact details. For uploaded quote comparisons, we provide suppliers with an administratively redacted copy rather than the original upload.
Raw energy bills and supporting photographs uploaded with a pricing enquiry are held privately for platform review and are not shown to suppliers while they bid. We may use relevant non-identifying facts from them to improve the structured project brief.
If you choose an offer, we disclose your contact details to that one supplier so they can contact you about the requested work. The supplier is an independent business and is responsible for its handling of information after receiving it. You can tell us and the supplier to stop further contact at any time.
Other disclosures and service providers
We may disclose information to providers that help us host, store, secure and operate the website; send email; process payments; provide professional advice; or investigate fraud and support issues. Stripe processes supplier payment-card information under its own privacy terms; we do not store full card numbers. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, during a business sale or restructure, or where reasonably necessary to protect people, the service or legal rights.
Overseas processing
Some technology, storage, email and payment providers may process or back up information outside Australia. The countries involved can change with provider infrastructure and account configuration. Contact us if you want current information about likely overseas locations relevant to your data.
Storage, security and retention
We use access controls and other reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information we hold. No internet or storage system is completely secure. Raw supporting files uploaded with a pricing enquiry are scheduled for deletion after 180 days. We retain other information while it is needed to operate the service, maintain transaction and consent records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. When it is no longer reasonably required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to backups and lawful recordkeeping requirements.
Access, correction and deletion requests
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. You can also ask us to delete information; we will do so where reasonably practicable and lawful, but may need to retain some records for security, transactions, disputes or legal obligations. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Privacy complaints
Email sales@shutthefrontup.com.au with “Privacy” in the subject line and explain what happened. We will acknowledge the complaint and aim to respond within 30 days. If Australian privacy law applies to us and you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our information-handling practices change. The date above identifies the current version. For questions, requests or complaints, email sales@shutthefrontup.com.au.
